How To Explain Item Upgrader To Your Grandparents

World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. This is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at lower levels. The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when examining a vendor's inventory.

On PC, you are able to check the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full item description, including its ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by an equation that determines the worth of the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and that gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

It's not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also change its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded once however, items that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage or other special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by naming them.

At present, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with the arrows that circle. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item to specific stats or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within that range unless they are an exclusive item, or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. Similar to base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to  upgrade item s. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves and is thus more useful in early game runs as opposed to later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.

Furthermore there are certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases this chance by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
